Traffic congestion and transportation problems have become increasingly common in many parts of the world . Some people believe that encouraging individuals to live in urban areas is the most effective way to address these issue . Although this approach could reduce commuting distance for some residents . I largely disagree that it is the best solution .

One major reason why people should not be encouraged to move to cities is that this could actually worsen existing traffic problems . Large cities are already densely populated , and an increase in the number of residents would put additional pressure on roads and public transport system . As a results , overcrowded buses, longer commuting times and heavier traffic congestion could become even more serious . For example , in major cities suchn as London and Tokyo , millions of people rely on public transportation every day, yet rush-hour congestion remains a significant problem.

A more effective solution would be to improve public transportation and develop better infrastructure in suburban and rural areas . If people have access to reliable buses , trains and effective roads , they will be less dependent on private cars . In addition , government could introduce incentive for people to use public transport , such as affordable fares and dedicated bus lanes .

Furthemore, encoutraging people to live otside major cities can haqve several benefit s. It can reduce overcrowding and make housing more affordable , whilke also promoting balanced regional development . With ther growth of remote working and digital technology , many people can now work from home or live farther away from their workplaces without commuting every day .

In conclusion, I disagree that encouraging people to move to cities is thye best way to solve traffic ande transportation problems . In my view, enhancing public transport , upgrading infrastructure and supporting remote work would be more sustainable and effective solutrion .

Examiner feedback

The essay presents a clear and coherent argument with well-structured paragraphs. However, your score is held back by recurring spelling mistakes and punctuation spacing errors that undermine an otherwise solid performance. Focus on refining your proofreading and increasing the precision of your vocabulary to reach a higher band score.

Task Response - 7

- The position is clear throughout the essay, and the arguments against the prompt are logically developed. - The writer sufficiently addresses all parts of the task by providing counter-arguments and offering alternative solutions. - Ideas are well-supported with relevant examples, such as the references to London, Tokyo, and the role of remote work.

Coherence & Cohesion - 7

- Paragraphs are clearly structured with a logical flow of arguments. - Transition words like 'Although', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' are used correctly to signal shifts in focus. - The essay maintains a consistent progression from the introduction to the conclusion, although referencing could be more varied.

Lexical Resource - 6

- A reasonable range of vocabulary is displayed, appropriate for the task. - Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'suchn', 'encoutraging', 'otside', 'haqve', 'thye', 'solutrion'), which distracts the reader and limits the score. - The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the writing.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy - 6

- While there is a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, the essay is marred by frequent mechanical errors. - Persistent issues with incorrect spacing before punctuation (e.g., 'world .') and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government could introduce incentive') reduce the overall accuracy. - Punctuation control needs improvement to ensure a professional finish.
