Those who argue that scientific research is a waste of time and money often point to projects that yield no immediate or tangible benefits. It is true that in fields like theoretical physics or space exploration, the results may take decades to manifest or might not produce a clear return on investment. From a strictly short-term economic perspective, these costs can seem exorbitant, particularly when compared to more immediate societal needs like poverty alleviation or infrastructure development.
