The table represents the use of water, measured in percentages, across four countries: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and Canada.

Overall, the proportions of water used for agriculture were the highest, especially in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, whereas all four countries recorded lower percentages for domestic use. It is also clear that the proportions of water used for industry varied considerably across the four countries.

Looking first at water use for agriculture, Egypt and Saudi Arabia showed the highest percentages, at 82% and 64% respectively, whereas New Zealand accounted for 44%. By contrast, agriculture was the least significant use of water in Canada, accounting for only 10%.

Using water for industry was the second most common use overall. Canada showed the highest figure, at 70%, followed by New Zealand at 46%. Saudi Arabia and Egypt recorded lower figures of 30% and 10% respectively.

In terms of domestic water use, all countries recorded relatively low percentages. Canada showed the highest figure at 20%, while the figure for New Zealand stood at 10%. Egypt and Saudi Arabia recorded lower figures at 8% and 6% respectively.
