The given bar chart depicts the proportion of males and females, aged 15-24, using the internet for four purposes -- email, social networks, online shopping, and other activities -- in Canada in 2000.

Overall, the proportion of female users of the Internet was higher in writing emails and online shopping, while males had a higher preference for social networks and other activities. Notably, email was the most popular among both genders, whereas online shopping and other activities had the lowest figures for males and females respectively.

With respect to most preferred options, email stood out as the most prominent, 48% for females and 41% for males. Conversely, males dominated in social networks with 28%, compared to females, whose figure was half of that for email (24%).

Turning to less preferred categories, females were more likely to engage in online shopping than males, accounting for 19% of the former and 13% for the latter. In contrast, males showed higher engagement in other activities, amounting to 18%, which was twice the figure for females (9%).
