The diagram illustrates the process by which food is smoked in a home smokery and the structural

components involved in this system.

Overall, the process comprises three main stages, beginning with the intake of air and the

combustion of logs underground, followed by smoking the food through a pipe.

At the initial stage, air enters a small lidded chamber and is directed into a central fire pit located

below ground level. In this chamber, logs are stored to burn and generate smoke. This fire chamber

is connected to the final step via a narrow underground pipe, which allows smoke to move away

from the heat source while preventing from flames with bricks.

In the final stage, smoke increases to extend above the ground level. Food items, including fish and

meat, are hooked at the top of the chamber. As smoke rises, it circulates around the hanging food,

giving special flavors and increasing their long shelf life.
