The line graph illustrates the amount of time required to manufacture a vehicle by four car manufacturers (Nissan, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and Ford) between 1998 and 2002, measured in hours per vehicle.

Overall, the production time declined for all four manufacturers over the five-year period. Nissan experienced the most dramatic reduction and became the fastest producer by 2002, whereas Ford showed only slight fluctuations and remained relatively stable throughout the period.

In 1998, Nissan recorded the longest production time at approximately 37 hours per vehicle. However, this figure fell sharply to around 30 hours in 1999 before continuing to decrease steadily to 24 hours in 2000, 22 hours in 2001 and just 21 hours by the end of the period. Similarly, General Motors reduced its production time consistently from about 32 hours in 1998 to 24 hours in 2002.

By contrast, DaimlerChrysler started at around 34 hours per vehicle and declined to 31 hours in 1999. It then remained unchanged until 2001 before dropping further to approximately 28 hours in the final year. Ford, on the other hand, recorded the shortest production time initially, at 25 hours in 1998. This figure increased slightly to 27 hours by 2001 before falling marginally to 26 hours in 2002.
